Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Day – Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities.
Habitat for Humanity Towns Union Counties has found that our partner families are largely comprised of women and children existing in poor living conditions. Our Women Build projects give women the opportunity to take a proactive step in improving such living conditions for families while serving our community.
Since our homes are initially built by a local contractor, projects such as landscaping, staining, flooring installation as well as interior and exterior painting are needed. These are projects that require no experience, just a passion to volunteer. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding to your tool belt, this is a rewarding and fun experience for all involved.
Women Build is a great way to involve family, friends, and local women’s organizations. These projects encourage a sense of community and giving along with a positive and powerful message of women helping women.
Projects normally begin at 9 a.m. and end by 2 p.m. They are held on Saturdays and lunch is provided. A total of 12 volunteers are recommended to successfully complete the project.
